My Go-To Family Portrait Locations
As your photographer, part of my client experience includes helping you find the perfect location for your family portraits! In the Western Suburbs, there are many options to choose from. Below are sample images from my favorite spots. When planning your session, my number one priority is finding a location with great light where we can create a wide variety of images. Any of my recommended spots will check those boxes. When looking at specifics of each location, I want to help you find the general aesthetic you’re looking for, ensure the location is easily accessible for all family members, and make sure we don’t run into large crowds.
St. James Farm Forest Preserve
Warrenville, IL
St. James Farm is large and has a lot of versatility! It is pretty all year round but it really shines in the late summer and fall. Think pretty white paths, mature trees, and greenery. Even on a busy weekend, there is always a good spot that can be found for your session. I’ve worked there a LOT and have several go-to locations!
Danada Equestrian Center
Wheaton, IL
Danada Equestrian Center is large and has a lot of variety. From the beautiful white archway to the nature paths lined with wildflowers, this spot won’t disappoint! There is a little more walking involved to access the wildflowers, so keep that in mind if there are any physical limitations for your family. If you don’t mind a short stroll, it’s worth it! Wildflowers are in season late summer/early fall. Weddings are common on Fridays and Saturdays which can limit some of the locations we’re allowed to use. Scheduling your session on a Sunday or weekday will help make sure we can use all of the best spots.
Blackwell Forest Preserve
Warrenville, IL
Blackwell is large and is great for beautiful trees and tall grasses. Wildflowers are in season late summer/early fall. I have a couple favorite spots that are my go-to and located near the parking lot so they don’t require too much walking which can be nice if you have young kids or any physical limitations. I love this location in late summer/early fall!
This is not an exhaustive list of locations, but some of my most frequently used (especially in the fall!).
